Introduction

To work from home, you will likely need access to:

  • Your SJA Computing Environment (UNITY, network drives, applications, etc.)
  • Your SJA Groupware / Webmail
  • Your SJA Voicemail

The computer resources can be access from any computer with internet access. A cable or xDSL connection is recommended. The voicemail can be accessed from any phone connected to the Public Switched Telephone Network

Terminal Server

The Atlas terminal server gives you access to your usual computing environment. You will need an account on the terminal server; if you do not have you, please call (780) 452-6565 x8248 for more information.

One you have the account, you can connect to it from any computer that has high-speed internet access (Cable or DSL should work, but if you are on the slower packages it may be a bit sluggish), and the Microsoft remote desktop client (which happens to be included with Windows XP and Vista).

To connect to the Atlas server from outside SJA using Remote Desktop Connection on a Windows XP computer:

  1. Open Remote Desktop Connection. On most computers it is under Start Menu --> Accessories or Start Menu --> Accessories --> Communications
  2. Under “Computer” type in 208.38.1.98 and press Enter

It is possible to connect from Windows computers older than Windows XP; you can download the free Microsoft Remote Desktop Client from the Microsoft.com website (google it to find it).

For Apple Mac OSX or Linux computers, it is also possible, but you will need to find a Microsoft RDP client that works for your operating system.

Groupware / Webmail

To connect to the SJA Groupware / Webmail server, all you need is a web browser.

Voicemail

To check your voicemail from any phone:

  1. Call your local SJA office,
  2. Dial your extension and wait until voicemail picks up
    1. If you have a call director mailbox (e.g. option to transfer to cel) you have to wait until you are in the end voicemail box
  3. Press * and follow the prompts, which are:
  4. Type in your passcode
  5. Press P (7) to listen to any new messages, or press U (8) and then G (4) to change your greeting.

You can also have someone in the office set your office phone to forward to your home phone or a mobile phone.

Also remember that if your voicemail is configured to do so, it will send you an email containing the voice message.
