St. John Ambulance is the oldest humanitarian organization in the world. With roots dating back more than 900 years to the times of the Crusades, St. John Ambulance is Canada’s leader in providing volunteer first aid services and training.
The St. John Ambulance mission is to enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training and community service. St. John Ambulance Canada is part of a world-wide, non-denominational charitable organization, dedicated to the service of others.
We carry out our Mission through two main bodies:
Community service volunteers
serve their communities by providing first aid services, as well as improving the quality of life for people through the Therapy Dog visitation program.
First aid and CPR training services
consist of instructors, volunteers and staff who provide high quality first aid training and products.
Led by a highly skilled network of medical and health care professionals, our program development specialists have positioned St. John Ambulance as the national leader in first aid, setting the standard for training in first aid, CPR and other life-saving skills.
St. John Ambulance in Alberta
Working within the national organization, St. John Ambulance Alberta provides its services through seven branches, thirty-four Brigade divisions and a network of over 1400 instructors. In 2001, St. John Ambulance Alberta issued over 100,000 certificates and provided over 100,000 hours of community service.
